The “Struggle”
The Tiger and the Dragon are two common metaphors in the martial arts.
In this depiction they are coming out of the “chuan fa” or fist law symbol and circling each other in a combative struggle.
What this signifies is the battle that goes on within the student of the martial arts.
The Tiger represents the physical aspects of training and the Dragon the spiritual aspects of training.
Within the student of “fist law” arts these two are in somewhat constant conflict each one vying (sp) for dominance within the practitioner. Anyone who has spent any amount of quality time studying the martial arts knows the struggle between the physical and the spiritual. The dichotomy between our ideals and our reality.
The goal is to achieve a balance between the two so that the virtues of both can be capitalized.
