How Does Martial Arts Teach Self Confidence?…Part 1
I mean that is why we came to the dojo…right?
Football, soccer, gymnastics or even working out
in the gym are all excellent physical activities.
But martial arts…that is a VERY specific choice
that comes from a VERY specific desire to feel good
walking around in our own skin.
So how does leaning to kick, punch and block do this for us?
To quote Dave Kovar…
“By showing us how to control our movement and techniques
and by focusing our energy and emotions on the task at hand
Martial Arts develops the innate ability to stay centered and present —
focused…even in the most stressful times.”
Notice the verbs in this quote…
Showing…the art shows the way
Focusing…the student focuses on what is being shown
Develops…the art provides a process in which the student participates
The arts shows the student what to do.
The student does
The student develops through the process of the art
