Dear Students… (the sequel)
I want to address something head on.
I love all of our students here at AKKA Independence.
We deal with the struggles of our lives, we all have good days and bad days.
What ever battles you fight outside the dojo, leave them there!
Your bad day at work.
Your bad day at school.
You got a bad grade on a test.
Your relationship is suffering.
You’ve got bills to pay and mouths to feed.
This is the stuff of life OUTSIDE the dojo.
The dojo is a vacation from the demands of life.
Family, finance, work, love, dreams, pets, parents, whatever stress you have; leave it in the car. You deserve a mental break. You deserve a chance to work on your beautiful self…Body, Mind and Spirit.
Treat yourself OFTEN to an hour that is devoted to your personal development.
Not because life outside the gym isn’t important.
But because YOU are important.
You are important to me.
Be important to YOURSELF!
I love all you wonderful people. You are the reason I get to be a karate teacher! I love seeing you overcome challenges to become your best version of you! I care about your training and want the best for you. When you succeed I rejoice! Anyone who works hard and does their best deserves to be respected like someone who works hard and does their best. And sometimes, even when we are doing our best…we fail…and when that happens I am here for encouragement and support.
BUT when you are not doing your best I WILL get after you about it. Because I care.
I want our dojo to be a place where you aspire toward your own personal excellence. Where everyone is treated with respect and love. Where we ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER to do our best!
I will not tolerate disrespect to anyone.
I will not accept laziness on the mat.
I will not allow you to do anything except your best.
You are my AKKA family, my karate “kids”.
When you walk into the dojo leave the drama and stress outside. It will be there when you are done. And hopefully, after an hour of class, you will be better able to deal with it when you leave.
Take care and see you in class…
